it took a month or so to learn, but finally, the first real smile could not be suppressed. of course neither mom or dad will admit who got the real one first (an argument that never lasts past the next smile of course).

lots of milestones met: heads being held up, assisted standing (for short, hair raising moments!), eyes focusing on far away objects, sleeping half the night... too many to count really. every day holds something new for this young family.

we had a nice visit from the northern california grandparents, who took lots of pictures (and almost took up permanent residence in our basement!) the little man was sad to see them go — but is eagerly looking forward to grandma J coming up in june.
