it's
not as if I was born yesterday, xavier will tell you, it only
seems that way.
is it six months already? my, that was fast. but then, xavier has
a habit of exceeding expectations. he'll take six months, and make
them seem like three weeks — all the while finding time to
smile, bounce, laugh, roll around, babble, and charm a smile out
of any girl lucky enough to make his acquaintance.
milestones met: sitting up, rolling over (both ways), eating solid
foods, sleeping the night (and we mean sleeping the Whole night!)
and four new teeth! two on top, and two on the bottom. he has managed
to get himself up on all fours, but he hasn't quite converted that
into a crawl — well hey, let's define the word crawl! much
to his italian mother's chagrin, our little sprout has decided to
follow in his father's footsteps by growing tall while staying quite
thin at a mere 15lbs. quite a contrast with all of the mammoth 22lb,
six month old babies around here. but then, we've always figured
him for a track or tennis star over anchoring the defensive line.
and then there's the jumper. everyone has their own little special
place, be it mountains in tibet, a cabin on the coast, or two seats
behind
home plate. xavier has his jumper. and has achieved a bouncing proficiency
that, quite possibly, is unparalleled by any baby in history. recruiters
from alvin ailey, the bolshoi, and even cirque de sole have been
wowed by his approach to the art. maybe we'll scare up a video sometime
soon to show him off.
